Completely reimagined from its foundation, the Orion XS transforms the concept of DC-DC battery to battery charging. It is perfectly designed for use in dual battery systems that utilize an intelligent alternator for charging.

The Orion XS is meticulously designed to revolutionize adaptive DC-DC battery charging, making it ideal for dual battery systems powered by an intelligent alternator. This unit not only delivers exceptional performance but also prioritizes the safety of your system. Functioning as a DC-DC battery charger or power supply, the Orion XS features a broad range of input and output voltages. This is crucial for vehicles equipped with Euro 5 or Euro 6 smart alternators, which may provide insufficient charging voltage, and for scenarios involving long cable runs typical in boats and RVs, which can cause voltage drops. In such cases, precise charging is essential to fully charge the service battery while preventing discharge of the starter/input battery.

The charging current of the Orion XS is adjustable down to 0.1 A increments via VictronConnect, catering to different charging needs. It includes an engine shutdown detection feature, activating the charger only when the alternator is generating power, thus ensuring efficient energy use.

The device employs an adaptive 4-stage charging algorithm for lead-acid batteries, adjusting the absorption time based on the depth of discharge to avoid overcharging or undercharging. It comes with customizable charging algorithms and eight preset battery configurations.

To protect against damage, particularly in lithium batteries, the charger automatically shuts off at low temperatures or if the input voltage falls below a set threshold, safeguarding the starter battery from deep discharge. Remote operation is possible via the remote on/off connector or VictronConnect App, allowing for easy integration with switches or Battery Management Systems (BMS).

The Orion XS is equipped with comprehensive electronic protection against overload, short circuits, and excessive temperatures, automatically reducing output to prevent overheating. For higher output needs, it supports parallel connection of multiple units.

With Bluetooth Smart technology, the Orion XS enables wireless setting adjustments, activity monitoring, and software updates via Apple and Android devices. The VictronConnect App provides instant data readouts and VE.Smart Networking allows for optimized charging by utilizing battery data.

For wired connections, it features a VE.Direct port, enabling advanced monitoring and diagnostics through devices like the Cerbo GX, and supports DVCC for system-wide control.

The device is IP65 rated, ensuring it is dust-tight and protected against heavy rainfall, making it a versatile and reliable choice for a wide range of applications.
